The missing swimmer on the Intracoastal Water has been recovered, according to Horry County’s Joint Information Center.

Chief Deputy Coroner Darris Fowler said the male victim, Eduardo Gutierrez, was found near Oakbed Island.

Authorities say Gutierrez, age 42, disappeared in the Waccamaw River late Saturday afternoon.

Gutierrez, who lived in the Myrtle Beach area, but was from Mexico, died in an accidental drowning, Fowler said on Tuesday.

The incident happened south of the Enterprise Boat Landing and was reported around 6:10 pm, said Horry County Spokesperson Lisa Bourcier.

Four Horry County Rescue divers were searching for the swimmer around 8 pm Saturday, but the search was called off for the night just before 10 pm, Bourcier said.
