Two suspects arrested in connection with the shooting of a 12-year-old in Timmonsville appeared in court on Tuesday. 

Michael Christian Barclay, Demonta Kabora Hickson, and Jimmy Lee Hampton, Jr.  were arrested last week, according to Major Michael Nunn with the Florence County Sheriff’s Office. 

Barclay, 31, of Timmonsville, was arrested on Friday just after midnight in Brooklyn, New York by officers with the New York City Police Department Warrants Division, according to Nunn. He is charged with one count of murder. 

Hickson, 24, of Timmonsville was arrested by FCSO Investigators on Friday and is charged with one count of murder. 

Hampton, Jr., 28, of Florence, was arrested by FCSO Investigators and is charged with one count of murder. 

Hickson and Hampton, Jr. appeared in Florence County Magistrate Court in Effingham around 9:15 a.m. on Tuesday.

The Florence County Detention Center confirms both were seen and arraigned for murder. No bond was set due to the seriousness of the charges and a higher court is needed to set bond. 

Hickson and Hampton, Jr.’s first appearance date will be on October 31 at 9 a.m. 

Barclay remains in New York. 

Florence County Coroner Keith von Lutcken identified the victim as Fantasia Shyann Jackson. He says the shooting happened around 11:30 p.m. on August 25. Jackson was taken to the hospital, where she later died.
