Three people have been arrested in connection with the shooting of a 12-year-old in Timmonsville.
Major Michael Nunn, with the Florence County Sheriff’s Office, says in a press release Michael Christian Barclay, Demonta Kabora Hickson, and Jimmy Lee Hampton, Jr. have been arrested and charged in the case.
Barclay, 31, of 1746 S. Hill Road in Timmonsville, was arrested on Friday just after midnight in Brooklyn, New York by officers with the New York City Police Department Warrants Division, according to Nunn. He is charged with one count of murder.
Hickson, 24, of 102 White Street in Timmonsville was arrested by FCSO Investigators on Friday and is charged with one count of murder.
Hampton, Jr., 28, of 2316 Oak Hei Lane in Florence, was arrested by FCSO Investigators and is charged with one count of murder.
Investigators believe the three arrested were involved in Saturday’s shooting on East Byrd Street in Timmonsville that resulted in the death of a 12-year-old, according to Nunn. Timmonsville officials allege that Barclay shot the victim as she was running for cover and that Hampton, Jr. and Hickson were co-defendants.
Nunn also says the investigation of the shooting was originally handled by the Timmonsville Police Department. The TPD requested the investigation be taken over by the FCSO on Wednesday.
