A large group gathered at the Rock Church of God in Lumberton Wednesday evening, to honor fallen Police Officer Jason Quick, during his visitation.

Officer Quick died after he was hit by a car on I-95 on Saturday morning, as he was investigating a crash.

News13 estimates there were 200 people in attendance at Wednesday’s visitation.

Lumberton Police Chief Michael McNeill described Officer Quick as ‘dedicated’, ‘sharp with a good demeanor about him’ and ‘a big teddy bear’. Chief McNeill said Officer Quick wanted to be a police chief one day.

News13 also learned that Officer Quick was on his day off when he was struck by the car. We’re told his squad was short-handed that day, so he went into work to help.

A funeral for Officer Quick will be held Thursday afternoon at 2 p.m. at the same church.
