NORTH MYRTLE BEACH (WBTW) – A construction manager working on a project at Barefoot Resort in North Myrtle Beach is accused of stealing $2 million.
According to police records from the North Myrtle Beach Public Safety office, Jose Manuel Fernandez Del Puerto, 45, was in charge of allocating money that was supposed to be used for Wyndham Gardens at Barefoot Resort.
News13 was able to obtain the case report and arrest warrants.
According to those documents, Fernandez Del Puerto, withdrew $2 million from the business account and transferred them into his personal bank account for his own use.
According to the arrest warrant, this happened for almost three years; between March 2015 and January 2018.
Wyndham Gardens at Barefoot Resort was a construction project involving Olmeca Capital, LLC and Vermex Hotels, LLC.
The arrest warrant says Fernandez Del Puerto was responsible for disbursing money from expenses that came up during the project.
Fernandez Del Puerto is charged with Breach/Breach of trust with fraudulent intent, value $10,000 or more.
The Wyndham Garden project is not currently under construction.
