BAY MINETTE, Ala. (WKRG) — Korean War Veteran and author Brewster Milton Robertson will mark a milestone soon. His wife is hoping to make it extra special.
Brewster now lives the William F. Green Veterans Home in Bay Minette, but he says he’s lived a charmed life.
“Everything just turned to honey,” he said.
Robertson is the author of four novels. He says he loved the writing life. He especially loved book signings and meeting with people who’d read his books. He met his wife Charlotte when she was the director of the Bay Minette Public library.
“She said, book me on blah, blah, blah plane, at blah, blah–arriving at 10 o’clock tonight. I’m your birthday present.”
His last book, ‘Gone to Graveyards’ is a fictionalized autobiography, an epic tale of his time in the Korean War. He served as an adjutant to the only hospital in the combat zone. Robertson is a graduate of the U.S. Army Officer Candidate School at Fort Sill, Oklahoma, and is now in that school’s Hall of Fame, something he says makes him pretty satisfied.
“My ego runneth over,” he said.
Now Charlotte is asking for the publics help in sending 90 birthday cards to him to mark his birthday. He now suffers from a failing memory, but Charlotte hopes she can help make his 90th birthday that much more memorable to him.
