A chance for showers remains in the forecast each day through Friday. Sunshine and cooler temps will return next weekend. New Year’s day and Wednesday will likely remain mostly dry. Only a few isolated showers here and there are possible inland tonight and then again Tuesday ad Wednesday. However, when the clock strikes midnight the eastern Carolinas should be mostly dry. Temps will be warm with highs in the mid 70s Tuesday. Another system approaches and increases rain chances Wednesday, Thursday and into Friday. This will bring more wide spread moderate rain to the area. High pressure will fully take over next weekend and finally dry the southeast out. Cooler air arrives Thu and Fri with highs in the mid to upper 50s but we turn mild again next weekend.
