Scattered thunderstorms are possible both days this weekend with the potential for severe storms Sunday. A slow moving cold front will approach the Carolinas tomorrow, then move through late Sunday into Monday. This will bring scattered thunderstorms each day Saturday through Monday. Most of today will be dry, with the chance for storms arriving late in the day and tonight. Best timing looks to be between 5pm and 10pm. Another round of thunderstorms will develop on Sunday. As temperatures warm into the mid 80s Sunday, some of the storms could become severe with wind gusts to 60mph and hail as large as quarters. While our main threat will be an isolated damaging wind gust, an isolated tornado can’t be ruled out either. These storms will move away Sunday night, but a few showers will linger into Monday. Drier and cooler air will move in for Tuesday and continue through the rest of the week.
