Strong to severe thunderstorms will move through the area this evening and through the night.
The storms will have the potential to bring damaging wind gusts and an isolated tornado. The main impact is going to be strong, straight-line winds. The area could see winds gusts of 60 to 70 mph.
The risk of severe storms across the entire area has increased. The storms will first come in west of I-95. As they last longer into the night and push east, they should weaken a little bit, but the coastal area will still have the risk for severe storms.

A tornado watch has been issued for our entire viewing area until 1am Friday. Scotland county is under a tornado watch until 7pm Thursday evening.
Rainfall should be one to three inches of rain with the heaviest amount farther to the west, so it is going to be wet, rough night tonight. Some areas could see brief street flooding.
The front will push offshore early Friday morning and much cooler weather will return on Friday. High temperatures Friday will be in the 50s to near 60.
It will stay cool on Saturday before we start to warm up on Sunday. High temperatures will warm into the 60s on Sunday, then into the 70s to start next week.
