A drying trend is expected heading into the weekend. For now, tropical moisture continues to stream in and keep rain chances higher than normal. A round of heavy rain is possible along the coast overnight with showers and storms building inland during the afternoon Friday. High pressure will build over the Carolinas this weekend and while neither day will be completely dry, both days will see less widespread activity and not quite as heavy downpours. Sunday will likely be drier than Saturday as well. Because most areas will see more sunshine and less rain and clouds, temperatures will climb into the upper 80s at the beaches and low 90s inland. The slightly drier trend will continue through the beginning of next week before rain chances go back up.

Tonight: Mostly cloudy with showers. Lows 74 inland, 76 beaches.
Friday: Partly sunny with showers and storms. Highs 88 inland, 86 beaches.
Saturday: Partly cloudy with sct’d showers and storms. Highs the upper 80s to near 90.
