The area of high pressure responsible for this heat wave will start to weaken at the end of the week. A weak cold front will push into the Carolinas Friday and Saturday, This will lead to temperatures not quite as hot, and a slight chance for thunderstorms starting Friday. Over the weekend high temperatures will be in the mid 90s inland, and upper 80s at the coast. The hot (but not extreme hot) weather will continue next week.
