UPDATE: Rain will continue but will not be quite as heavy overnight. Rainfall amounts have been adding up throughout the day, however and most places have at least seen an inch with Conway sitting at almost two and half inches. Up to two more inches or so is still possible before the rain clears out midday Saturday, keeping flash flooding a possibility.
The latest river level forecast suggest that rivers will not rise quite as much as previously thought. The Lumber River in Lumberton is still forecast to be in moderate stage through Sunday and the Great Pee at Pee Dee is still forecast to to be in moderate stage through Wednesday. This is due lower expected rainfall totals inland.

The next rain maker will approach from the southwest tonight and bring a significant amount of moisture with it Friday and Saturday.

FLASH FLOODING
A Flash Flood Watch has been issued for most of the eastern Carolinas. Rain could move in as early as after midnight tonight. Several batches of heavy rain are expected through Saturday midday before clearing out. While it may not rain the whole time between tonight and Saturday, the batches of heavy rain could dump several inches in a short amount of time. This will lead to flash flooding as the ground is already saturated and can’t absorb much more after last weekend’s rain.
STRONG STORMS FRIDAY
An isolated strong storm or two with gusty, possibly damaging winds are possible Friday afternoon. The main threat with Friday’s rain and/or storms, however, is the possibility for flash flooding.
RIVER FLOODING
When the system clears, up to 5 inches of rain will have fallen in some areas. The Lumber River is currently in moderate flood stage and major flooding is expected after this weekend’s rain. A crest of 19.3 ft is expected early Sunday before receding.
The Great Pee Dee at Pee Dee is experiencing minor flooding with a forecast of moderate flooding by Tuesday morning at 23.9 ft.
The Little Pee Dee at Galivants Ferry is currently in minor flood stage and is moderate flooding is forecast. The crest will occur early Tuesday at 11.4 ft with additional rises possible thereafter.
The Black Creek at Quinby is in minor flood stage with a forecast of some rise and a crest of 14.4 ft expected Monday.
The Lynches River at Effingham is not experiencing flooding right now but moderate flooding is forecast beginning early Sunday with a crest of 16.1 ft by early Monday afternoon.
The Black Creek at Kingstree is forecast to see minor flooding by early Sunday morning and continue to rise to near 12.8 ft by early Tuesday morning. Additional rises are possible thereafter.
