The storm system that brought all the snow, sleet and freezing rain will begin to pull away from the Carolinas and move offshore. The system will take it’s time though and we won’t fully dry and clear out until Tuesday. The heaviest rain has moved out of the eastern Carolinas but moisture lingers. A few showers overnight and showers Monday are still in the forecast. Blustery winds from this afternoon will calm some overnight but stay breezy. Temperatures will stay cold as those winds bring in colder air from the north.

After a cold start Monday morning with temps in the mid 30s, temps will only rise a few degrees in the afternoon to the low to mid 40s. If the showers linger long enough Monday night, there could be a few flurries through Tuesday morning but no accumulation with occur.

Sunshine returns Tuesday and Wednesday along with a slow warming trend. Temps by Thursday could near 60°. The next storm system arrives Friday with a good chance for showers and maybe a rumble of thunder. Showers could linger in Saturday before clearing out on Sunday. Highs over the weekend will be in the mid to upper 50s.

Tonight: Cloudy, cold and breezy with a few showers. Lows 34 inland, 36 beaches.
Monday: Cloudy & cold with showers. Highs 40 inland, 44 beaches.
Tuesday: Clearing skies, cool temps. Highs near 50.
