Temperatures will continue to drop tonight with overnight lows in the 20s and low 30s. High pressure over the Southeast will bring clear skies and light winds tonight. This will allow temperatures to drop quickly this evening, and falling below freezing overnight. The cool weather will continue through the rest of the week. A storm system will move across the Carolinas this weekend bringing cold rain to our part of the Carolinas. Periods of heavy rain are expected, and 2-3 inches of rain are possible. It will be cold enough for wintry weather to our north and west, and a major winter storm is expected for parts of North Carolina. The storm system will move away late Sunday, but lingering moisture could bring a few showers Monday. It will stay cool to start next week.
