Warm air and moisture will stream across the region for the remainder of the weekend into Monday. A warm front has pushed well inland this morning and we are tracking a stream of showers and storms working their way from the southeast to the northeast. As a cold front gets closer to the Carolinas, we’ll see scattered showers and storms developing this afternoon. We will be watching for the possibility for a few of these storms to become strong to severe. Right now, the Storm Prediction Center has the majority of our area in a “Slight Risk” for severe weather. These showers and storms will be scattered about this afternoon and the severe weather threat will be isolated. Our main threat will be damaing wind gust over 60mph but an isolated tornado threat can’t be ruled out. Timing for these storms will be the afternoon between 2pm through 7pm. Storms will start in the western Pee Dee moving towards areas along I-95 by between 4pm-5pm and along the coast by 7pm. The front will start to slow down in the Carolinas allowing for a few showers on Monday and temperatures to warm into the low 70s. The front is expected to push offshore Monday night allowing for much colder air to filter in. Highs will be in the mid and upper 50s Tuesday, with Wednesday and Thursday being the coldest days with highs only in the 40s.
