The tropics continue to heat up. Tropical Depression Three formed just off the Carolina coastline Friday. Gradual strengthening is expected and TD Three will likely become Tropical Storm Chris by Saturday afternoon and possibly Hurricane Chris by Tuesday. The storm will continue to meander very slowly off the coast through the middle of next week. Three may jog closer to our coast but no direct impacts are expected. The Carolinas will be on the drier side of the storm but we could see marine impacts with rip currents, high surf and offshore rain/wind.

Beryl is also now our first hurricane of the season. Beryl strengthened overnight into a category one storm and is forecast to continue strengthening moving towards the Lesser Antilles. Gradual weakening and is expected as it moves into the Caribbean but the storm will need to be monitored over the coming days.
