In Lumberton the Robeson County Emergency Operations Center is a hive of activity ahead of Hurricane Florence.

Several departments are taking emergency phone calls. Even members of the Robeson County School Board are helping out.

The Robeson County Board of Commissioners Chairman has said that in case of an evacuation they would use school buses to help evacuate people. Currently there is no evacuation.

Public Information Office Emily Jones says she has working since 8 Thursday morning and will work 24/7 if needed.

“There is a lot of movement here.” Jones said. “A lot of excitement, anxiety and we’re very, very organized and we’re working together and getting it out.”

Officials at the EOC are urging people to stay inside as the storm moves through the area.
