Where do tropical systems form in the Atlantic?

In June and July, tropical systems typically form in the Gulf of Mexico, down in the Caribbean seas and just north of the Bahamas. By August and September we start to see waves of low pressure coming off the West African coast that tend to head west towards the United States. By October and November we tend to see less activity coming off the West African coast and more systems developing closer to the Gulf of Mexico and the Caribbean seas.
