Many communities in the Pee Dee area of South Carolina, and the News13 area of North Carolina, will host events to celebrate the holiday season. These events include:

Pee Dee:

– City of Dillon and Dillon Kiwanis Club’s Breakfast with Santa: will be from 8-10 a.m. on Dec. 1 at the City of Dillon Wellness Center, located at 1647 Commerce Drive. Pancakes will be served and participants are asked to bring one toy or a five dollar donation per person. Donations will be given to the Dillon Herald and East Dillon Baptist Church’s toy and food drive. 

– City of Marion Christmas Tree Lighting Celebration: will be held at 6 p.m. on Dec. 2 at Marion County Courthouse. Fireworks will follow at Withlacoochee Park at 7 p.m.

– Darlington Christmas Market: Dec. 15 from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at Trinity Unity Methodist Church Fellowship Hall. 

– Marion holiday events:

  • Pilot Club of Marion bazaar: Dec. 8 at 10 a.m.
  • Marion County museum luncheon: Dec. 8 from 12-2 p.m.
  • Historic Marion Christmas Tour of Homes: Dec. 8 from 2-6 p.m.
  • Downtown Marion extended holiday shopping hours: Dec. 13 from 6-8 p.m. Call the Marion Chamber at 843-423-3561 for more info. 

– Johnsonville Christmas parade: Dec. 1 at 3 p.m.

– Lake City “Hometown Holidays Festival”: December 7-9 in Downtown Lake City. 

  • “After Dark” Christmas Parade and tree lighting ceremony: Dec. 7 
  • Live holiday music, dance performances: Dec. 8
  • Junior Sorosis Club’s “Candlelight Tour of Historic Lake City”: Dec. 9
  • Free ice skating and holiday shopping at “The Bean Market”: Dec. 7-9

– “Love Beyond Bars” Christmas Party: Dec. 6 from 6-8 p.m. at The Sword Of Truth, located at 105 Cheraw Street in Bennettsville. – McLeod Hospice Tree Lighting Ceremony: Dec. 6 at 5:45 p.m. at Mc Leod Regional Medical Center adjacent to the McLeod Center fo Cancer Treatment and Research. Family of Rev. Charles D. “Pete” Cooper will light trees and Savannah Grove Baptist Church Gospel Choir will perform. Lights are available with gifts to McLeod Hospice for $25 each. – Timmonsville tree lighting and parade: 

  • Tree lighting: Nov. 30 at 5:30 p.m. with Timmonsville High School chorus and Anthony Miles.
  • Parade: Dec. 1 at 10:30 a.m. with Derrick Bull ft. Bethlehem Baptist Church, Allen Gregg Singers, the Phenomenal Kids of Praise, and Zion Temple Youth Choir. There will be cooking decorating, prizes, face painting an other events. 

– West Florence Fire Department holiday festival: will be held on Dec. 1 from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the fire department, located at 3379 Pine Needles Road. Will feature food, photos with Santa, prizes, games, and craft vendors. 

North Carolina: 

– Robeson County Church and Community Center “Brighter Christmas” Program: for low income families with children or grandparents raising grandchildren. Children aged 2-12 are eligible and participants are selected from applications. Applications will be accepted from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. on November 29 and November 30 (with a lunch break from 12-1 p.m. each day). – Lumberton Firefighters Association Toy Giveaway for Hurricane Florence victims: will be held at Biggs Park Mall, located at 2800 North Elm Street, on Nov. 30 from 5:30 until 8:30 p.m. and on Dec. 1 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
