MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (May 29, 2018) – The Myrtle Beach Pelicans announced Tuesday that team President Andy Milovich has accepted a new position within Chairman and Managing Partner Chuck Greenberg’s family of Minor League Baseball franchises (Greenberg Sports Group), effective immediately.

Milovich has been named President and General Manager of the Frisco (TX) RoughRiders, the Double-A affiliate of the Texas Rangers, and will relocate to North Texas to oversee the franchise’s day-to-day business operations.

Andy, who has served as the Pelicans’ top executive since December 2012, will maintain his role as President in Myrtle Beach and continue to guide all major franchise decisions. Ryan Moore was named General Manager last December and will expand his management responsibilities under Andy’s continued leadership.

“Though his day-to-day responsibilities will be primarily focused on his new role with the Frisco RoughRiders starting immediately, Andy and I felt strongly that his ongoing involvement in guiding the Pelicans was essential in order for us to continue to build on the positive momentum the franchise has created, both at the ballpark and in the Myrtle Beach community, over the five-and-a-half years of his leadership tenure,” said Greenberg.

Greenberg added, “Ryan Moore was promoted to General Manager this past offseason with the possibility in mind that Andy may move to a new role in the future. There is no doubt that Ryan is the perfect choice to lead the Pelicans’ day-to-day operations and will maintain our community and customer-focused approach to our business.”

Under Andy’s leadership, the Pelicans have become known as one of the baseball industry’s leaders in community engagement, innovative game day promotions and creative marketing campaigns. Milovich guided the Pelicans to new club records in ticket revenue, oversaw the affiliation switch from the Texas Rangers to the Chicago Cubs following the 2014 season, and led the team to Baseball America’s 2015 Bob Freitas Award as the top Class-A Minor League Baseball franchise in the country.

Andy led the creation of the Pelicans Play It Forward Community Initiative that has given back over $2 million in donations, fundraising proceeds, in-kind services and community service since launching the program in 2013.

“While I am very excited to have the opportunity to lead a franchise in Frisco, Texas that is at the top of our industry and calls one of the fastest-growing markets in the country home, this is certainly a bittersweet move because my wife, two daughters and I have become so engrained in the Myrtle Beach community and developed many lifelong friendships,” said Milovich. “Thankfully, the new role that Chuck Greenberg and I have created still allows me the opportunity to continue being involved with the Pelicans’ franchise and the Myrtle Beach community.”

Milovich added, “As I said back in December when Ryan Moore was elevated to GM, he has demonstrated an understanding, passion and commitment to both the Pelicans and Myrtle Beach community that has had a dramatic impact on our success. His established relationships with our front office staff, fan base, and business and community partners allow us to maintain the necessary continuity in our day-to-day operations.”

Milovich is in his 28th season in Minor League Baseball, the past 22 at the General Manager level or higher. Prior to joining Myrtle Beach, he served as the top executive for the West Virginia Power (2004-12), Mahoning Valley Scrappers (1999-03) and Erie SeaWolves (1996-98). He was honored as The Sporting News Minor League Executive Year in 1997 and has earned Executive of the Year awards in the New York-Penn League (2000) and Carolina League (2014).

Moore rejoined the Pelicans for his second stint with the franchise in October 2014, serving in the role of VP of Business Development until his promotion to General Manager last December. Ryan began his baseball career as a Ticket Account Executive in Myrtle Beach in 2008. His other baseball stops include the Triple-A Gwinnett (Ga.) Braves (2011-13) and the Class-A Jupiter (Fl.) Hammerheads, where he was GM from August 2013 until re-joining the Pelicans.
