Lamar, SC (WBTW) — Corey Fountain, head varsity football coach for Lamar High School, announced his resignation today. Fountain, who has been the Silver Foxes’ head coach for the past five years, is leaving to pursue other professional opportunities.
 
“I am sad to see him go but I wish him all the best,” said Kathy Gainey, principal of Lamar High School. “Coach Fountain is a great football coach. More importantly, he has great character and a great heart for our students and school.”
 
Fountain, who coached his team to a two state championships, a runner up title, and several undefeated seasons, was chosen as the 2017 Class A Upper-State Coach of the Year by the South Carolina Football Coaches Association.
 
The school will begin the search for a new head football coach in the next few weeks.
