BENNETTSVILLE, SC (WBTW) – Dean Boyd has been a staple at Marlboro County high school for over 2 decades on the football field and the athletic office serving as athletic director.  Today he spoke with his team and told them he would be leaving the school district for an opportunity to coach at his alma mater (York High School) near Rock Hill and Charlotte.  Boyd has won close to 200 games at the school, including state championships in 1998 & 2001.

Principal Derwin Farr called Boyd more than a coach, he was a father figure, and a mentor.  Farr called Boyd “Big Uncle.”
