CONWAY – Coastal Carolina held its annual Palmetto Pro Day on Friday, allowing Chanticleer student-athletes and student-athletes from other institutions to showcase their skills in front of NFL scouts. Among the NFL teams represented at the 2018 Pro Day were the Steelers, Falcons and Browns.
The student-athletes participating for Coastal Carolina were Oshamar Abercrombie, Gary Bradshaw, Lorenzo D’Angelo, Dontay Hears, Kerron Johnson, Shane Johnson, Chris Jones, Marcus Williamson, Austin Wilson, and former Chants Devin Brown, Samuel Ekwonike, Voghens Larrieux, Richard Sampson, and A.J. Sattinger.
Student-athletes from Charleston Southern, The Citadel, Limestone and Shepherd were also present.
The Pro Day began with measurements of the NFL hopefuls, followed by weight room testing. Inside the Watson Strength and Conditioning Center, the student-athletes were tested for their broad and vertical jumps, as well as the 225-pound bench press.
The group then moved outside to Brooks Stadium, where the athletes had their times recorded in the 40-yard dash, 60-yard shuttle and 3-cone drill.
To close the day, participants were divided based on positions to begin individual skill work, with quarterbacks throwing to receivers and running backs, and defensive players participating in agility and ball-chasing drills.
