HORRY COUNTY, SC – It’s been a year since the disappearance of Heather Elvis. The morning of December 18, 2013, was the last time anyone heard from Heather. Family and friends will gather Thursday at 5:15 for a vigil at Peachtree Landing in Socastee to remember the 20-year-old Horry County woman. Peachtree Landing is where her car was found abandoned December 19.
Heather’s parents, Debbi and Terry Elvis, have told News13 in the past they have been overwhelmed by the community support. You still see signs asking for information about Heather’s whereabouts. The case has received national attention, with a segment on the Nancy Grace show on Headline News. Early on in the case, there were billboards for Heather across the Carolinas, Indiana, Pennsylvania and Ohio.
Police made two arrests in the case but it has not yet gone to trial. Police believe Sidney and Tammy Moorer killed Heather last December at Peachtree Landing, but so far have not located her body.

The CUE Center, which stands for Community United Effort Center for Missing Persons, came to the Myrtle Beach area for several searches. They still need help. You can click here for more info. The Elvis family took to social media early on in her disappearance asking for help in finding Heather and created a Facebook page.
