FLORENCE, SC (WBTW) -The South Carolina Department of Transportation announced Tuesday that construction is underway on the project to widen South Cashua Drive in Florence County.
The widening will occur approximately 2.099 miles between Jeffries Creek Bridge and Floyd Circle. The work is beginning on the City of Florence end and will progress west towards Timmonsville. Officials say crews will be present on the entire project site during construction.
The project is scheduled to take approximately three years for completion. Both day and night work will occur, requiring temporary lane closures and detours that may extend commute times. Drivers are advised to look for workers conducting flagging operations as well as detour signs throughout the project.
SCDOT encourages all drivers to use extra caution in work zones and obey posted speed limits.
