MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WBTW) Wonder Works in Myrtle Beach is celebrating their 5th anniversary this weekend with a scavenger hunt ticket giveway.
Professor Wonder will be at different locations on the Grand Strand on Saturday handing out prizes. Wonder Works will post the clues to their Twitter and Facebook pages.
The 50,000 square foot building at Broadway at the Beach is a self-proclaimed “theme park for your mind”.
“With new exhibits comes new excitement,” Wonder Works Education Sales Manager Kaitlin Barnes said.
She’s been with Wonder Works since they opened in Myrtle Beach.
“Nobody knew what it was,” Barnes said of the unusual structure. “Everybody was amazed by the upside down house and what it was, what was inside, is it a restaurant is it a water park, no one really knew it was kind of that mystery behind it.”
Half a decade later thousands of visitors still test their ability to rest on thousands of nails. The attraction spun 180 degrees from a normal foundation continues to bring smiles with it’s floor plan full of lights, colors and who could forget those giant bubbles.
“The initial reaction to it alone drew people in, what is the upside down house, why is it upside down,” Barnes said. “We kind of got to sell that aspect, tell people the story and tell people how it became upside down, why is it upside down and all of the fun things that are inside to have fun with.”
