LAKE CITY, S.C. (WBTW) – Breaking the cycle of abuse was the focus that one group of women gathered to discuss Saturday afternoon.
Monique Fulton is the founder of Women Abusive Preventive Care. The organization mission and goals is to equip women with educational resources of skills in knowledge to refrain from past, current or future situations of abusive relationships, predatory advancements or violently actions constant with abuse.
She says many women fear exposure. But her goal is to show how the organization can help them.
“We’re not here to judge. We’re not here to persecute. We’re not here to do any of that. We are just here to receive people where they are and help them and the needs that they have,” says Fulton.
Giving them the resources needed to get out of bad situations.
“We do connect them with people that can put them in a safe haven until the situation kind of calm down,” said Fulton.
That’s where people like Mary Pinckney come in. She says her book helps those overcome challenges while in an abusive situation.
“One of my reasons for writing that book is a lot of us actually as women experience emotional challenges that kind of hinder us through life,” says Pinckney.
It’s a way to let their voices be heard.
“As we come together we want women to know that there is hope and help out there. There are people in place that are willing to come along aside you and help encourage you, motivate you and build you up and even help walk with you through life storms,” mentioned Pinckney.
Rebuilding one heart at a time.
Pinckney says when you can change the life of one then they can go out and actually impact the life of others.
The organization have more events to empower women coming up next month.
