PICKENS, SC – -A woman’s body was found near a public boat ramp at the Saluda River in Pickens County Sunday morning.

The Pickens County Coroner has identified the woman as 35-year-old Farah Reza Khan of Townville.

According to Pickens County Sheriff’s Deputies, their department responded around 9am to the boat ramp off of Buck Skin Road after a call was made to 911 about a female who appeared to be injured or possibly dead.

Authorities found Khan’s body at the scene with severe trauma to the head.

The Sheriff’s Office is investigating the death as a homicide until other information can be received from a more extensive examination of Khan’s body.

Deputies have assigned a team of Detectives that are tracking down Khan’s activities and locations where she may have been hours before her death.

An autopsy is scheduled for later Monday morning at which time Detectives hope to have preliminary findings that will confirm the way Khan died, the cause of death, and a projected window of how long she may have been dead before she was discovered.

Detectives at the boat ramp determined that one wound appears to be from a gunshot.

No weapon has been recovered at the scene.

There were no witnesses who have come forward at this time.
