CONWAY, SC (WBTW) – A Charlotte woman faces additional charges after police say she intentionally struck a Horry County fire engine with her car Tuesday.
Sinksar Bahru Solomon, 57, was originally issued a citation for reckless driving. According to booking records from J Reuben Long, she is now charged with assault on a police officer while resisting arrest, attempted murder and malicious injury to property value greater than $10,000.
Police reports say officers were called to Highway 544 and Founders Drive Tuesday at 3:08 p.m. for a reckless driving complaint. The report also says Horry County Dispatch said the Coastal Police Officer asked for Conway police to arrive as soon a possible because the suspect was “becoming irate and combative”.
According to the report, Solomon parked the car near the fire truck before the collision and got out to address a female firefighter near the truck. Reports say the suspect said “I’m sick of police harassing me.” A firefighter told the woman “I’m a firefighter, ma’am.”
Next, Solomon got in her car, put the car in reverse and stopped in the middle of the intersection. Reports say she started screaming profanities, put the car in drive and moved the car toward the firefighters standing outside the truck, missing the people and hitting the front of the fire truck.
According to Sgt. Darren Alston with Conway Police Department, a firefighter had to jump out of the way to avoid being hit. After she hit the fire engine, the suspect got out of the car again and continued yelling profanities.
Officers say when police asked her for identification, she hit him in the chest with a closed fist. Solomon passed a field sobriety test, and was put in handcuffs and transported to the hospital for her injuries to be evaluated.
Horry County Fire Rescue, Conway Fire, CCU Police and Horry County Police were all at the scene.
Solomon is currently being held at the Horry County Detention Center awaiting bond.
