FLORENCE, SC (WBTW) – A woman accused of spanking children at a Florence learning center has turned herself in to police.

According to a press release from the Florence Police Department, Roberta Dukes turned herself in to police on Friday. She has been charged with five counts of assault and battery in the third degree.

These charges reportedly stem from allegations that on February 4 at the Excellence Learning Center on North Irby Street in Florence, Dukes “took children to the bathroom” and “spanked them without the consent of the parents,” the release said. “At the time of the incident, Ms. Dukes was employed at the facility and in charge of monitoring children.”
