CONWAY, SC (WBTW) – A 20-year-old woman will serve up to 5 years in jail in connection to a 2015 Myrtle Beach hotel shooting that killed a North Carolina couple.
Tonya Root, spokeswoman for the Horry County Solicitor’s Office, tells News13 Chelsi Leila Griffin pleaded under an offer plea in court. Griffin pleaded to accessory after the fact of a felony, a charge that carries up to 15 years in prison.
Root says Judge Larry Hyman sentenced Griffin under the youthful offender act. Griffin’s active sentence is not to exceed 5 years, according to Root.
The Horry County Coroner’s Office says Carrie Daley Turner, 52, and Steven Gray Turner, 61, of Durham, NC, died of “gunshot wound injuries” at the Landmark Resort in March 2015.
Myrtle Beach Police Lt. Joey Crosby said officers also arrested the couple’s son and Griffin’s boyfriend, Alexander Gray Turner, in connection with the double homicide and charged him with murder. Griffin was also initially charged with murder in the case, according to Myrtle Beach Police.
In addition to Turner and Griffin, Myrtle Beach Police arrested and charged Grant Anthony Dollens, of Columbia, and Roxanna Lisa Cupman, of Potstown, PA, with accessory after the fact.
In October, Turner entered a guilty plea and was sentenced to 47 years in prison.
