MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WBTW) – Myrtle Beach Police are investigating a strong armed robbery that happened at Celebrity Circle in Broadway at the Beach.
In a report, police say the call came in around 2:20 Saturday morning after a woman was walking to her car when a man grabbed her from under her arm and placed his hands around her neck pulling her to the ground.
The victim told police the man then punched her 4-5 times with a closed fist while she was on the ground. In a report, officers say that while the woman was falling to ground her purse fell off her body and the man took it.
The victim told police she tried to fight the suspect off and that’s when she noticed he had dreads. She told police there were two men involved and the second man there grabbed her purse and took $50.00 out of it.
A police report says the suspects took off running toward Highway 17 Bypass on foot and left her purse behind.
After the incident the victim told police she called her brother who was working and he immediately found an on-duty officer.
Police say the victim did have some swelling in the area she was assaulted.
The suspects are described as black men, ages 20-30, one is around 6’0 and the other around 5’9. Police say they both had on dark clothing and one of the suspects has dreads.
The investigation is ongoing.
