A woman is charged with arson after a fire at a Little River Circle K where she worked.
According to an incident report from the Horry County Police Department, officers responded to the Circle K located at 3498 E. Highway 9 in Little River in reference to an arson around 7:40 p.m. on Sunday.
Horry County Fire Rescue requested police to the scene of a fire investigation “after stating that based on their initial investigation it was believed to be started by an employee,” the report says. When officers arrived on scene, they were met by a woman who was later arrested, another employee, and HCFR personnel.
When the HCFR fire investigator arrived, items frm the area where the fire started were cleared out for the fire to be investigated, according to the report. “When the origin of the fire was discovered, it was found by the fire investigator that the fire had to be caused by a direct pilot source, due to the fact there was no materials or items in the area that could have ignited a fire.”
The woman, identified in the report as Sara Browder, was arrested, the report also says. Browder is an employee of the store and camera footage in the back room where the fire started was provided to police.
