A young Myrtle Beach girl battling serious health problems will get to feel like the princess she’s always wanted to be, thanks to the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
Almost a year and a half ago, 7-year-old Adaya McDowell went into cardiac arrest. Her parents learned that she had an underlying genetic condition that caused her to suffer a traumatic brain injury. Adaya is now in the process of learning to walk and talk again.
Adaya was nominated to the Make-A-Wish Foundation, which is sending her and her family to Disney World. On Saturday, Coastal Carolina University’s Chi Omega chapter, which fundraises for Make-A-Wish, held a send-off celebration for the McDowells. They will head down to Disney World next Saturday, and spend a week there. Adaya’s mother, Amanda McDowell, said, “She’s just worked so hard in therapy and in school. She deserves it. She’s a little princess. Just for us to all go and be away from everything, and relax and enjoy each other. We’re very much looking forward to it.”
