Tuesday, winter weather conditions on Horry County roads caused headaches for several drivers.
“If you don’t have to go out, I wouldn’t go out,” said Tony Somers.
Somers was driving around for work early Tuesday morning and now he is paying for it; literally.
“Probably look at $3-400 bucks,” he said.
Somers got into a wreck when his car hit ice.
He says drivers on Highway 17 seemed to be taking it easy on the roads, but caution is not always enough.
“I blame myself. I should have been a little more cautious, even though I thought I was, but like I said that ice is pretty unforgiving”
Somers is not the only one.
State Highway Patrol officials say from midnight on Tuesday to around 4pm there were a total of 27 accidents in Horry County.
The wet road conditions are only expected to get worse through the night.
