MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WBTW) – Today the Croissants Bistro and Bakery held its 5th annual Cupcake Eating Contest.
The contest took place at the Heroes Harbor at Broadway at the Beach and proceeds went to the Reggie Sanders Foundation which builds awareness for autism.
News 13’s morning anchor Patsy Kelly was there judging the contest.
The winner was Joe Menchetti, who ate thirty-two cupcakes in five minutes. Menchetti won $500 and a two-night stay at the Breakers Resort.
Menchetti says he didn’t do much to prepare. “The closest thing I do to prepare is chew a lot of gum for jaw strength. This wasn’t even a contest you even needed that for. Thankfully it was short where I was able to sprint and hold on,” added Menchetti.
