After days of preparation, the Wings Over Myrtle Beach Air Show officially begun on Saturday.
Almost 70,000 people attended the show at the Myrtle Beach General Aviation Terminal to watch several aircraft performances, including the Blue Angels. They were also able to tour several historic and military aircrafts.
Wings Over Myrtle Beach is the first air show in Myrtle Beach since 1993. Jim Tobul, a pilot who performed in Saturday’s show, flew in the 1993 air show as well. On Saturday, he flew a jet builtin 1945, used during World War II and the Korean War.
“When I get in there and I fly it, and I put my feet on the rudder pedals, I think about all the other pilots before me that have put their feet on the same rudder pedals, in combat. So I’m very humbled,” said Tobul.
The Wings Over Myrtle Beach Air Show will continue on Sunday.
