Williamsburg County Sheriff’s Office investigates after woman found unresponsive in home

ANDREWS, SC (WBTW) – The Williamsburg County Sheriff’s Office says they are investigating a death after an Andrews woman was found in her home Tuesday.

The Williamsburg County Sheriff’s Office along with Williamsburg County EMS responded to a home on Pearl Loop in Andrews in reference to an unresponsive woman, spokesperson Alex Edwards said in a press release.

On arrival, deputies found the victim, 55-year-old Cynthia Hernandez Powell, inside a bedroom. Investigators say family members found Powell unresponsive, and called 911.

The Williamsburg County Coroner’s Office also responded to the scene.

The cause of death is undermined at this time.  Powell’s body will be sent to the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston for an autopsy, officials said.

According to Edwards, the investigation into this incident is ongoing.
