SOCIETY HILL, SC (WBTW) – The wife of a Society Hill Police Chief was killed in a car crash Friday night, according to the Pee Dee Fraternal Order of Police.

Police officials say Matt Hill is the Society Hill Police Chief and his wife, Jennifer Hill, was killed in that crash.

According to her obituary on the Burroughs and Cooper Funeral Home page, the 28-year-old mother died Friday at Sand Hills Regional Medical Center in Hamlet, NC.

The obituary also says Jennifer worked with Security Management of South Carolina and attended Brutons Fork Baptist Church in Bennettsville. She enjoyed shooting guns, camping, camp fires, singing karaoke and helping people.

In a post on the Society Hill Police Department’s Facebook page, Chief Hill says:

Services for the love of my life will be Wednesday with visitation from 5-7pm then services at 7pm in Bennettsville at Burroughs Cooper Funeral Home on Beauty Spot Road.

A Facebook post from the South Carolina Fraternal Order of Police states: “Please remember Society Hill Police Chief Matt Hill in your prayers as his wife was killed last night in a car crash while she was returning home from work. Not much in the way of details have been released at this point. More will be added soon.”

Lt. Jeff Gordon with North Carolina Highway Patrol says Hill was driving on Hatcher Road, about two miles outside of Hamlet, when her vehicle ran off the road. Hill over corrected and her vehicle hit a tree.
