LATTA, SC (WBTW) – Last month, News13 reported about a deadly hit and run in Dillon County, in the Oak Grove Community.
The person who died was 61-year-old Billy Wayne Summerford from Latta.
Troopers say a vehicle hit and killed Summerford on January 28th as he walked along Highway 38, near the Marlboro County line.
There have been no arrests and there are still other questions about what happened.
News13’s spoke with Summerford’s wife Jeannie for the first time and she says she wants answers.
“I’ve never expected this. I can’t get any information. He was a husband, he was a grandfather, he was a brother, and he was an uncle. He was a human being and somebody needs to come forward,” said Jeannie Summerford.
She says that officials at the scene told her that her husband’s body was lying along Highway 38 for about 30 minutes after he was hit.
Again, so far there have been no arrests, but the family says it offers a $500 reward if anyone knows what happened.
