(KELO) — Outside of the two front-runners, Libertarian candidate Gary Johnson is expected to be in third place in the popular vote, according to most polls
Johnson is the former Republican governor of New Mexico. Before that, he was a businessperson in the state.
His campaign’s focus has become to run as a breath of fresh air, compared to the top party candidates.
The two-party system has dominated elections throughout much of America’s history.
However, in a campaign where one in four Americans dislike both of the major party candidates, third parties gain traction.
According to FiveThirtyEight, Johnson is anticipated to get 4.4 percent of the popular vote.
Johnson gained some controversy earlier in the campaign, when he was questioned about Aleppo on MSNBC.
