Community members packed The Carolina Opry to watch hundreds of local students perform, and support fine arts programs in Horry County Schools.

The Chicora Rotary Club of Myrtle Beach hosted the 6th annual “Waves of the Future” benefit concert inside the Calvin Gilmore Theater. Twenty performance groups from schools across Horry County were chosen to perform at the concert. More than 700 students took to the stage.

All ticket sales will be donated to fine arts performance groups in Horry County Schools.

“If we took fine arts out of our everyday lives we’d be lost. So that’s why it’s important to us as adults, and even more important to the children, to enhance that as they grow up. Because, they’re our future,” said Director of Fine Arts Scott Scrivner.
