LUMBERTON, NC ( WBTW) – Investigators say the car connected to the kidnapping of a Robeson County teen was spotted in Lumberton on a surveillance camera.
The FBI and the Lumberton Police Department have been analyzing video since 13-year-old Hania Aguilar was abducted Monday morning. A press release from the FBI says the image of the car was captured near Hania’s home just minutes after the kidnapping. Police are asking anyone in the area with a camera to hand off their footage to investigators.
On Wednesday evening, FBI officials released video of the SUV wanted in connection with the kidnapping, a press release from the FBI says. The video is from a camera near the entrance of the Rosewood Mobile Home Park, and shows the SUV leaving the park and turning left onto Highway 41/Elizabethtown Road in Lumberton.
“We are using these videos to accurately track the movements of the vehicle. Therefore, we are asking home and business owners with surveillance camera systems to call our tip line at 910-272-5871,” says the release. “Your footage could be important to our investigation, even if it did not capture an image of the SUV. Please, call us if we have not already been in contact with you to request video footage.”
Hania was outside a home in the Rosewood Mobile Home Park off of Elizabethtown Road around 7 a.m. Monday when a male wearing a yellow bandana forced her into a relative’s car parked in the driveway. The SUV investigators are looking for is a green 2002/ 2003 Ford Expedition with SC license plate NWS-984. The paint on the hood is peeling and there is a Clemson sticker on the rear window.
Hania is a Hispanic female, 5 feet tall, weighing approximately 126 pounds. She has black hair, and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing a blue shirt with flowers and blue jeans.
Anyone in the Lumberton area who has a camera or surveillance system is asked to save the video and contact the tipline at 910-272-5871.
“Even if you do not see the vehicle in your video, please call the tip line anyway, as it may still contain important information,” the FBI stated in a press release.
