Walmart manager accused of shoplifting at another Walmart store

LAKE WALES, Fla.  – A Walmart manager is accused shoplifting items from another Walmart store.

Lake Wales police say Donald O’ Connell is a service manager at the Sebring Walmart.

Over the weekend, he was arrested for shoplifting at the Lake Wales Walmart. Lake Wales Police Department officers responded to a call about a retail theft in progress at the Walmart which is located at 2000 State Route 60.

After officers arrived, they say they saw O’Connell select items off of a shelf. He then stuffed the items down the front of his pants and walked to a bathroom where he removed the items from their packaging.

Officers also say they saw O’Connell pick up a coloring book from a shelf and then hide the coloring book in a female suspect’s purse. The pair then allegedly left the store without paying for the concealed items.

Reese and O’Connell were stopped and escorted back into Walmart where the property was recovered.

Police say O’Connell is the service manager at Walmart in Sebring and has worked there for 9 years.

Shelby Reese and Donald O’Connell were arrested for shoplifting and transported to the Polk County Jail.
