People in Conway laced up their sneakers on Saturday to educate the community about autism.

PALOS Autism Awareness held its third annual Walk to Remember in Collins Park. Organizers lined the path with information and historical facts about autism for walkers to read. Several local vendors also participated in the event.

PALOS founder Patsy Baker and Lori Lewis said they hope educate the community on autism in order to make Conway, as well as all of Horry County, autism-friendly.

“We’re hoping that we reach all these people. Because we did have one lady come in and say, ‘what is autism’. And she lives here. So we need to make everyone aware, this is happening. This is here and it’s here to stay,” said Baker.

PALOS will also hold a pancake breakfast fundraiser at FATZ Cafe in Conway on Saturday, April 28th. All proceeds will help children with autism attend summer camp.
