HORRY COUNTY, SC (WBTW) – After the South Carolina Department of Transportation reported a few spots of ice on roads Friday morning, the Waccamaw River Bridge is reopened to drivers.
According to Midway Fire Rescue officials, the bridge is completely open. Both lanes north and south are flowing, but rescue crews ask that driver use caution due to the amount of traffic.
At 6 a.m. Friday morning, Midway Fire Rescue reported that Hwy. 17 at the double bridges at the Waccamaw & Great Pee Dee rivers were closed temporarily. The northbound lane of Hwy. 17 at the Maryville bridge just south of downtown was also closed. Icy conditions have since weakened and bridges and roads are now open.
