CONWAY, S.C. (WBTW)- This year’s election is fast approaching and the Horry County Voter and Registration office says things have been busy.

The director says yesterday they processed more than 300 absentee ballots bringing the total up to more than 1,000 ballots. The State of South Carolina doesn’t have early voting so you will need to provide a reason to obtain an absentee ballot.

Staff members say they expect crowds larger than came out during the 2008 election.

“We’re definitely going to have long lines because there is a lot of interest in this election. We ask the voters to be patient. Have your photo ids ready. You can go on scvotes.org and you can pull off your sample ballot, so you will know exactly what’s on your ballot,” Director of Registration and Elections Sandy Martin said.

All precincts will be open this year and will require more than 800 poll workers to help things run smoothly.

This week, the office is also testing the voting machines to make sure they’re ready to go to each polling location the Wednesday before the election.
