MYRTLE BEACH, SC- For some people, fireworks are a fourth of July tradition. Dozens of people visited Willard’s Fireworks Friday to buy the biggest and brightest.
10 year-old Mark Cullen went shopping with his dad. The store has various options and Cullen had a difficult time picking out which ones he wanted. His father had an even harder time staying within his budget. Initially, they had only wanted to spend $50, but they ended up leaving with $150 worth of fireworks.
Conway resident Tabitha Strickland visits Willard’s every year. She’ll spend anywhere between $400 and $600 on fireworks.
“My kids love fireworks. They don’t care what kind of fireworks they are, they love them big and small,” said Strickland.
Judy Davis has worked at Willard’s for 15 years and she knows a few things about what to get.
“My favorite firework is the blonde joke,” stated Davis. “It’s just beautiful in the air. You got everything, you got noise, you got color, you got crackle.”
Davis told News 13 the majority of customers come from out-of-town because fireworks are illegal in some states.
Still Cullen said the risk, is worth the reward. Willard’s Fireworks stays open until 11 p.m.
