Virginia College in Florence hosts Back to School Bash

FLORENCE, SC –  Virginia College in Florence will host its annual Back to School Bash to be held Sunday, Aug. 14 from noon to 4 p.m. Located at 2400 David H. McLeod Blvd., the campus invites its students and members of the community to attend as Virginia College celebrates the start of a new school year by offering free hair services and school supplies to the public.

“We are thrilled to host the Back to School Bash again this year,” says Shannon Swartz, Virginia College campus president. “It’s a great way to give back to community and get students excited as they enter a new school year.”

For the second year, the Virginia College Cosmetology Department has teamed up with local barbers and stylists to offer free hair services including shampooing, styling, braiding and haircutting, which will be available to attendees on a first-come, first-serve basis. Free school supplies, refreshments and fun activities for children will also be offered for the whole family.

“Last year we serviced more than 200 school-aged students, giving them a boost to their self- esteem to embark on the new school year,” says Lethonia Barnes, program director of the Cosmetology Department at Virginia College. “We are looking for this year to be even more successful as last year was.”
