AYNOR, SC (WBTW) – A vigil was held Sunday night for Zachary Malinowski, an Aynor teen who went missing in August 2013. Friends and family gathered to pray for Malinowski’s return, who was only 19 when he was last seen playing basketball in Aynor Town Park.
“Three years is way too long,” said Malinowski’s mother, Missy Jordan. “Somebody out there knows exactly where my child is at and I would just beg them that if they have any information to please come forward.”
Malinkowski’s car was found burned in the woods in September 2013, but his body has never been found.
“We will continue to look for him. We’re never going to stop looking,” added Jordan.
Volunteers from the CUE Center for Missing Persons were at the vigil as well as some law enforcement officials. President of the CUE Center for Missing Persons in Wilmington, N.C., George Graham, and his wife were also there. They said this particular case is hard for them because they live in Horry County.
“It kinda hit home, in our own backyard. Our organization is nation-wide, all over the county,” said Graham. “When it’s in your own back yard it’s personal.”
Jordan said she is thankful for those volunteers who have helped her throughout these last three years.
“I felt really lost in all of this and they have helped me beyond belief of what to do, where to go and how to get things started,” said Jordan.
Friends and family members of Randy Davis, another missing Aynor man, were also there with signs and candles, as were Terry and Debbi Elvis, parents Heather Elvis.
Jordan and Graham said they will continue to search for Malinowski and urge anyone with information to call the police or file an anonymous report with the Cue Center for Missing Persons.
“You may think it doesn’t mean a lot, but it could mean a whole lot to us,” said Jordan.
Christopher Anfony Brown and Javon Gibbs were charged with kidnapping and murder following Malinowski’s disappearance. You can read more about the suspects and updates in the case here.
